One of the first and most important steps of your wedding planning process is picking your wedding date and location.

1. Make a Date
Although you may have an ideal date in mind, you may not get your ideal location. So you may need to be a little bit more flexible with one or the other.

2. Location Sets Tone and Style
Will you get married in a church? Will you have you reception at a hotel ballroom? Will you have everything in one roof, at a hotel or a destination venue? So many things to consider.

3. Day of the Week
Another thing to consider when choosing your wedding date is also perhaps looking at alternate times and days of the week that might fit better with your schedule and even be more budget friendly.

4. Assess Guest List
Once you’ve chosen the date and location of your wedding, it’s time to address the guest list. Take a look at the people you really want at your celebration that would fit your budget and venue and go from there.

5. Create a Realistic Budget
When talking about booking a venue, the guest list and all those great stuff, we have to bring up the B word – ‘Budget’. What’s important to you in terms of details – Do you need a wedding cake? flowers? or a photographer? If you do, you need to budget accordingly and make sure you can make it happen for you.

6. Send out Save-the-Dates
Once you’ve wrapped up all these details – your wedding date, your location and your guestlist, your’re ready to send out your save-the-dates and let your friends and family know when your wedding day will be.
